Home Maintenance

Our Home Maintenance Service is available to residents of Inverclyde who need practical help to stay safe at home. You may be eligible if you experience barriers to maintaining your home safely due to any of the following:

✅ Mobility challenges or long term health conditions

✅ Living with learning disabilities or mental health

✅ Returning home from hospital and need their home made safe

✅ At risks of falls or injury due to hazards in the home

✅ Struggling with essential tasks that affect their safety or independence

✅ Carers who need practical support to reduce strain

There is an hourly charge for our services, currently it's £20 per handy person per hour. Some jobs require two handy persons, these jobs would be £40 per hour.

You must meet our eligibility criteria, if unsure please contact us.

Please note that we are unable to help with any of the below:

❌ Cutting large hedges or any work that requires ladders outdoors

❌ Major renovations or work that would typically require a specialist trade

❌ Working with electricity (changing light fixtures, sockets, ovens...)

❌ Plumbing (beyond simple fixes like toilet seats)

❌ Working with Gas or heating systems

❌ Household appliance repair (washing machines, fridges)

Our Home Maintenance Service is experiencing unprecedented demand for grass and hedge cutting.

As a charity with limited resources we must prioritise those most at need whilst also providing essential urgent responses to those leaving hospital or under palliative care. Grass and hedges are not our core focus.

If you are able to do so, please consider using a private grass cutting service. We are unable to provide any recommendations.
