Our Day Care Service offers a structured, supportive environment where individuals receive social interaction, personal care, nutritional support, and regular monitoring. We help maintain daily living skills, provide assistance with medication, and offer transport to and from the centre where required. Each person’s needs are reviewed regularly to ensure we continue to meet their goals.

At the Muirshiel Centre, we provide a range of therapeutic and recreational activities designed to build confidence and encourage social engagement. These include discussion groups, arts and crafts, games, dancing, and memory‑stimulating activities.

Our service is designed for individuals with functional impairments who require support with daily tasks such as toileting, mobility, transferring, eating, or who need observation due to cognitive impairment. People living with dementia particularly benefit from our stimulating, social, and supportive environment.

Why is day care important?

Adult Day Services play a key role in community support, helping older adults with cognitive or physical impairments stay at home longer while providing essential assistance and relief for their families and caregivers.

Key Worker

Every service user is assigned a key worker who oversees their wellbeing and maintains regular contact with families and carers. While we encourage independence, our team is always available to provide support whenever it’s needed.

Caregiver & Respite

Research shows that caregivers without regular breaks are at higher risk of stress and burnout, which can place informal care arrangements under strain. Adult Day Services help relieve this pressure by giving caregivers time to focus on other responsibilities, while ensuring their loved one receives care, support, and meaningful engagement in a safe and stimulating environment.

Healthy Eating & Dietary Requirements

Tea, coffee, and snacks are served in the morning and afternoon, with soft drinks available throughout the day. Lunch is a freshly prepared two‑course meal, typically soup and a main dish or a main dish with dessert. Our menu is created in consultation with those who use the centre, and we can accommodate all special dietary requirements.

Care packages can also be funded through Self‑Directed Support or arranged privately. If you or a family member may benefit from our service, please get in touch and we’ll be happy to discuss the next steps.
